PHC-MCH Training Successfully Completed in Sudan

A five-day PHC-MCH (Portable Health Clinic – Mother and Child Health) training was successfully conducted in Sudan from 24- 28 January 2026, led by two maternal health experts from Grameen Bangladesh. The training focused on strengthening antenatal and maternal healthcare, with particular emphasis on practical ultrasound examination during pregnancy. With the cooperation of pregnant women, participants were able to conduct hands-on training in a real clinical setting.

The training was supported through the collaboration of Japan, Bangladesh, and Sudan, including Dr. Naoyuki Kawahara of Rocinantes and Prof. Rafiqul Islam Maruf of Kyushu University, whose work has contributed significantly to the development and advancement of the Portable Health Clinic (PHC) and digital healthcare for underserved communities.

Through online communication and continued collaboration, the Sudanese healthcare team has developed strong connections with the Japanese and Bangladeshi experts. The training represents an important step toward strengthening the capacity of local healthcare workers to independently assess, diagnose, and provide care for pregnant women, even in resource-limited settings.

Japan, Bangladesh, and Sudan are coming together as one team to build a stronger future for maternal and child health in Sudan.
