ROCINANTES (認定NPO法人ロシナンテス)

Rocinantes is a Japanese international non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to bringing essential medical care, water, and community support to underserved populations in Africa, particularly in countries such as Sudan and Zambia. It was established in May 2006 by Dr. Naoyuki Kawahara, a former Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs physician who witnessed the devastating lack of health services while working in war-torn Sudan and felt compelled to act directly to save lives and improve health outcomes.

Rocinantes has initiated this digital telehealth project to address maternal and child health (MCH) care in Sudan. The project utilizes a telehealth system known as the Portable Health Clinic (PHC) to deliver quality healthcare services to underserved communities in rural Sudan. PHC is an innovative digital healthcare system jointly developed by Kyushu University, Japan, and Grameen Communications, Bangladesh. The Sudan Family Planning Association (SFPA) is serving as the local implementing partner for this project.
